With a background in engineering, he brings a calm, systematic and analytical approach to every lesson. He observes each swimmer’s technique, identifies areas for improvement, and breaks complex movements down into simple, manageable steps, so beginners can understand their mistakes without feeling overwhelmed.
Patient and encouraging, he understands that every swimmer learns at a different pace. He creates a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, facing their fears, and trying again without pressure — adapting his approach to each person’s ability, confidence and goals.

Izhar Jalil
Coach
Coach Izhar is an adult swimming coach with MySwim Coaching, specialising in open water and triathlon. To him, swimming isn’t just about becoming faster — it’s about becoming more confident, capable and comfortable in the water.

He has coached swimmers with every kind of story — first-timers, those correcting years-old stroke habits, and many preparing for their first open-water race or triathlon. His approach is simple: understand where each swimmer is, identify what’s holding them back, and guide them toward where they want to go.
He believes in building the foundation before chasing performance. The pool offers a controlled environment to develop technique, breathing and rhythm, but open water is unpredictable — waves, currents and changing conditions mean swimmers need awareness, adaptability and safety skills before stepping beyond the pool.
Coach Izhar works with adult swimmers of all levels, from beginners overcoming water anxiety to triathletes and IRONMAN participants preparing for race day. Whatever the goal — a first 50 metres or a first open-water swim — the starting point is always the same: understand your current ability, then build from there.
For him, coaching is about more than technique — it’s patience, discipline, trust and consistency. Progress doesn’t always look like a faster time; sometimes it’s simply being less afraid, breathing more comfortably, or having the confidence to enter the water alone.
Coach Izhar runs Swim Squad, and coaches Stroke Correction and Learn to Swim for adults. He holds a National Swimming Coaching Certificate and is a certified lifesaver (Bronze Medallion) by the Life Saving Society of Malaysia (LSSM).
